After back-to-back losses for clippers this is another setback they will be facing for the next four games. Blake Griffin has been suspended for next 4 games without pay, for punching a team staff member on Tuesday, 9th February.
This means loss of $859,442 from Griffin's salary of $18,907,725. The Los Angeles Clippers will also hold his pay for another game because he broke his shooting hand. The Clippers management has decided to donate his Griffin's salary to disadvantaged youth, as charity. The team further reports that Griffin himself wanted to donate his time to the organizations.
Well, the suspension hasn't started yet. When the already-already-injured Griffin will by healthy, that when the game count begins. His absence was already being mourned by his fans but this is another blow which seemingly will take Clippers further down.
The Clippers has put an end to their four-game road trip Wednesday night, before the All-Star break begins this weekend. Their game will be resumed from February 18, against San Antonio.
Clippers owner, Steve Ballmer, and team coach, Doc rivers, strictly condemned the misconduct and also added that Griffin is remorseful and has apologized for his act. Moreover, in their press conference, they praised Griffin as the important member of the team. Griffin will get back to work, which begins with his rehab, appearances and also the attendance at the games.
The clippers are already 18-4 in the absence of Griffin. Away from the team since his partially torn left quadriceps tendon on Dec. 26, now when he was near to get back he punched Testi who suffered from multiple facial injuries. Both are sent to Los Angeles where Griffin went through a minor hand surgery.
Griffin has given no immediate response after the incident. He is away from twitter since his apology, though previously he had been a frequent user.
There had been multiple stores about Griffin and Testis fight but the fact is he is away and Clippers will be suffering more.
Griffin was a quality player for Clippers before his medical and conduct issues. He was averaging 23.3 points with 8.7 rebounds and 5 assists.
The All-stars game is without Griffin for the first time in the last 6 years, now because of his absence.
