The three most trusted starters for the Pistons were seated across the court, Chauncey Billups, Isiah Thomas, and Dave Bing. Missing three vitals for the match on Feb 10, Reggie Jackson, Ersan Ilyasova, and Kentavious Cladwell-Pope.
Forward Anthony Tolliver, Brandon Jennings and Stanley Johnson were the replacements used.
The Pistons couldn't play really well. Playing narrowly for the first half quarter, and then trailed similarly in the most of second. Coach Stan Van Gundy clearly said that they did not respond well to the shots and that job wasn't done well. He also added, that those missing cannot be blamed when the game wasn't played as it should have been.
On the other hand, Denver Nuggets had their other 4th win out of six. Will Barton did his part well in the fourth quarter and brought the team closer to the win 103-92.
Barton contributed 75% of his points in the final period i.e. 15/20. This made Denver enter the All-Star break having won most of their games.
Nuggets defended well in the second half - Terrific. They were led by 8 points in the start of the fourth quarter. Here Pistons closed it to 83-82 where Tolliver responded with his consecutive 3-pointers. to halt that, Foye from Denver made a three pointer, this helped in holding to the lead for the Nuggets.
The Piston's Drummond scored 15 points and 17 rebounds but shot 7 from the field.
At around the halftime, Detroit retired Billup's jersey. the Pistons were 53-52 then.
Still it was seen as a struggle for them, with their much-needed players missing.
